Why Patients Choose Medical Cannabis
A Trusted Treatment Option
Medical cannabis has become one of the most widely used alternative treatments in the United States. A 2020 nationally representative study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine found that roughly 7% of American adults use cannabis for medical reasons — and the conditions that bring patients to a certification appointment span the full landscape of modern medicine.
Why Patients Use It
In that study of 9,003 US adults, the most commonly reported reasons for medical cannabis use were anxiety (49%), insomnia (47%), chronic pain (42%), and depression (39%). Patients also reported using cannabis for mood support, arthritis, migraines, PTSD, cancer-related symptoms, and a range of less common conditions including seizures, multiple sclerosis, and glaucoma
State Rules Vary
While the symptoms patients seek to manage with cannabis are similar across the country, the rules that determine who legally qualifies for certification are not. Every state runs its own medical cannabis program with its own list of qualifying conditions, its own evaluation requirements, and its own renewal process.
Start With a Conversation
If you're considering medical cannabis for any condition, the most useful first step is a conversation. We'll walk you through what your state's program currently recognizes, whether your situation aligns, and what a realistic treatment plan might look like. If cannabis isn't the right fit, we'll tell you that honestly and point you toward what might work better.

Customized Valuable Insights
We understand that the conditions our patients bring to us, chronic pain, PTSD, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, neuropathy, IBS, and more, don’t respond to a one-size-fits-all approach.
That’s why we take the time to actually understand your history, your goals, and what you’ve already tried. You’ll leave every appointment with a clear picture of your options and a plan that makes sense for you.
Whether you’re beginning your medical cannabis journey or looking for a medical cannabis doctor online who will genuinely partner with you along the way, we’re here — and we’re paying attention.
As a women-owned medical cannabis practice, we offer something the high-throughput platforms simply can’t: a provider who knows your name, knows your history, and is genuinely invested in your outcomes.
About Us
Empathy First. Every Time.
Our entire model is built around one principle: you deserve to be treated like a person, not a chart number. We know that navigating a medical cannabis program can feel complicated, uncertain, or stigmatizing — and we’re here to change that experience from the moment you reach out.
Our team creates a space where your questions are always welcome, your concerns are taken seriously, and your comfort matters as much as your diagnosis. No judgment. Just clear, honest, compassionate care.
A Real Evaluation — Not a Five-Minute Rubber Stamp
There’s no shortage of online platforms that will approve you for a cannabis card in under five minutes. That’s not what we do. At Green Light Health Services, your telehealth cannabis evaluation is a genuine clinical assessment. We review your medical history, take time to understand your conditions and symptoms, and make sure cannabis is actually the right fit for your situation.
If it is, we help you understand how to use it effectively. If it isn’t, we’ll tell you that honestly and point you toward what might work better. Our patients leave their virtual cannabis consultations with real answers — not just a card.
We’re with You Beyond the Certification
Your medical cannabis certification is a starting point, not the finish line. We offer cannabis follow-up consultations to check in on how your treatment plan is working, allotment increase evaluations when your clinical needs exceed your current limits, and cannabis verification letters for patients who need documentation for employers, housing programs, or other purposes. We are not a one-and-done service. If something isn’t working, we want to know — and we’re equipped to help you adjust.
Education Is Built Into the Care
Getting your certification is only part of the picture. Knowing how to use cannabis effectively — which products, what doses, which delivery methods, and what to watch for — is what actually produces results. We take time in every appointment to walk patients through the clinical basics: how cannabinoids interact with your body, why starting low and going slow matters, and how to
make informed choices at the dispensary. An informed patient makes better decisions, and better decisions lead to better outcomes.
Small Practice. Real Relationship.
Large cannabis certification networks are built for volume. We are built for patients. As a small, women-owned medical cannabis practice, we offer something the high-throughput platforms simply can’t: a provider who knows your name, knows your history, and is genuinely invested in your outcomes. You are not one of thousands being processed through a digital pipeline. You’re a patient — and we treat you that way.

Certified. Responsive. Compassionate.

Medical Cannabis Certification by State

Virginia Medical Cannabis Certification
Virginia has one of the most flexible medical cannabis programs in the country. We provide same-day virtual evaluations for Virginia residents, with most patients receiving their written certification within 24 hours of their appointment.
Illinois Medical Marijuana Card

Illinois operates a structured Medical Cannabis Patient Program with a defined list of qualifying conditions. After your virtual evaluation, we submit your physician certification to the Illinois Department of Public Health, and you complete your application directly with the state. We handle both initial certifications and renewals.

Minnesota Medical Cannabis Certification
Minnesota's medical program continues to provide meaningful benefits, including expanded product access, higher purchase limits, and protections for patients who need documentation for employment or housing. We provide initial certifications and renewals via secure telehealth.
